The UV-Shield Black Hood (UPF 40) has been embraced by people who work outdoors for extended periods. Its black pigments and dense fiber-web structure block 97% UV transmission in addition to its superior effectiveness of shielding against airborne debris.  In contrast, the conventional balaclava having porous knitted structure allows the debris and UV light to pass through the spaces between yarns, especially in stretched form. .
